You want more than a safe place afterschool for your kids. You want your child to be nurtured into becoming their best self. Our Afterschool program is licensed by the Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) and provides a safe, stimulating and fun environment for kids on Monday through Friday from school dismissal until 5:30 pm. While your child is well-cared for, you can focus on your career, finding a job or even going back to school yourself.

Winthrop – Kindergarten through 8th grade
With FKO staff, certified teachers and/or community experts leading 10-week project-based learning and enrichment classes, kids have the space and time to learn new skills, such as theatre, entrepreneurship, art and sports. By self-selecting classes in their areas of interest, they’re encouraged to discover their new passion, hobby, or even future career.
Your child needs more than academics to be successful at school and in the real world. Social and emotional skills, such as self-awareness, teamwork, motivation, self-regulation and empathy are necessary to successfully function in today’s society. With stress at an all-time high, we teach kids the skills they need – meditation, yoga, stress relief – to cope with challenges today and in the future. By learning these strategies at a young age, FKO puts your child on a road to a balanced life.
Our trained social workers create nurturing environments that meets the needs of every child, including emotional and behavioral challenges. By providing our staff with the tools and support they need, all children learn and grow in our programs by participating at their own level.
With a full-time site director and EEC qualified group leaders, your child receives top-quality care every minute they are with us. We carefully screen all staff and have an up-to-date safety plan to keep every child safe, including greeters at each site to usher children back into the care of their families at the end of the day. And in case of an emergency, our staff is trained in CPR and first-aid to provide immediate care to your child.
Kids who want to get ahead on their schoolwork or read the next chapter in their favorite book are provided a quiet space with tables, desks and computers. While homework time is optional, FKO staff encourages kids to advance their studies and provides guidance on their homework assignments as needed.
