We’re looking for new volunteer board members to share their knowledge and help build the profile of our organization. If you are passionate about making a difference in the life of a child, join us! Your expertise in development and marketing, law, finance, and human resources would be such a valuable addition to our FKO family.
Meet Our Board
As a mentor, you work one-on-one with a child who needs an additional consistent adult relationship – helping with homework, mediation, exercise, sharing a healthy meal, talking about their day, doing fun activities together, to help build both self-esteem and self-awareness. By working with staff and the child’s family, you learn how to best help the child grow to become the best version of themselves. We provide training and support you throughout the year; all you need to do is open your heart and lend a listening ear. And at the end of the school year, our mentors find that they gain as much from the experience as the child they helped.
Kids need our help and support to gain the skills and experience needed for college and the workforce. And we need practice to become the teachers, social workers, or leaders we inspire to be! Completing your internship program at FKO is a great way to gain experience and share your knowledge and passion with kids.
We are also always looking for partnerships with local colleges interested in offering an internship program at FKO. Together, we will grow future leaders!
Looking for a team building activity that also gives back to your local community? By participating in an FKO Corporate Giving Day, your business or department volunteers together for a whole day or a few hours. You might help with landscaping or cleanup at one of our owned sites. Your team could offer an enrichment class for kids as a team. Or your team might sponsor a Random Acts of Kindness Day in the summer. Let’s work together to design a project that fits your team’s needs.
