Summer

Give your child the summer of their dreams – field trips, social time with their friends, new skill exploration, and a great amount of time outdoors. Our summer program is licensed by the Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) and is designed to help your child grow and learn while having fun during their vacation. Each site is open from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm, with only full-day programs available.

project based learning
Project Based Learning

Focused, real-world experiences

At the beginning of the summer, your child will self-select a preferred project to work on throughout the summer. In these project-based learning (PBL) classes, children respond to a real-world question, problem or challenge, like designing a new sneaker, opening a new restaurant, or caring for our earth. Through experiential learning, field trips, guest speakers and more, kids have the opportuinty to investigate, explore and learn, all while having fun and feeling proud of the mark they are capable of making on our world!

academic enrichment
Enrichment Opportunities

Exploring and learning

With enrichment opportunities each day, kids have the space and time to learn a variety of new skills throughout the summer, such as theatre, entrepreneurship, art and sports. By self-selecting classes in their areas of interest, they’re encouraged to discover their new passion, hobby, or even future career.

field trips
Community Field Trips

Exploring the community

Throughout the summer, our programs head outside and into the community. Some field trips are all about fun – like swimming at a local beach or visiting an amusement park. Others, such as visits to museums and historic sites, bring the lessons from their projects or enrichments to life. Plus, summer is the perfect time to perform random acts of kindness for the residents of our community.

healthy food at FKO
Healthy Food throughout the Day

Making good choices for a lifetime of health and wellness

Healthy food supports your child’s activities and learning, giving them the fuel they need to succeed. By providing nourishing foods and guidance in making healthy choices, we educate kids on the importance of lifelong wellness.

social and emotional learning
Social & Emotional Learning

Teaching personal and relationship skills

Social and emotional skills, such as self-awareness, teamwork, motivation, self-regulation and empathy are necessary to successfully function in today’s society. With stress at an all-time high, we teach kids the tools they need – meditation, yoga, stress relief – to cope with challenges today and in the future. By learning these strategies at a young age, your child is on the road to a balanced life.

A place for every child

Our trained social workers create nurturing environments that meets the needs of every child, including emotional and behavioral challenges. By providing our staff with the tools and support they need, all children learn and grow in our programs by participating at their own level.

Keeping Your Kids Safe

Dedicated and Licensed Staff

Your child will remember the familiar faces of our Summer staff from the Afterschool program, including a full-time site director and EEC qualified group leaders. We carefully screen all staff and have an up-to-date safety plan to keep every child safe, including greeters at each site to welcome kids into the program each morning and usher them back into the care of their families at the end of the day. And in case of an emergency, our staff is trained in CPR and first-aid to provide immediate care to your child.
