For Kids Only Afterschool brings families and communities together to provide a safe space for all children to thrive during the out-of-school time hours. Our holistic learning approach helps children love, learn and grow while inspiring every child to leave their unique mark on this world.

Our Beginning

A place to grow

For Kids Only Afterschool began with a family wanting the best for their children.

It was the early 1980s. Sisters Debbie and Connie both entered the workforce as teachers. They quickly saw an issue – children were going home alone to empty houses when school got out. Debbie and her sister wanted more for their future children – they wanted some place loving, safe, and enriching where their children would continue to grow, make connections, build relationships, and bring meaning to what they learned during the school day. In this desire to create a safe and nurturing space that would offer the best for their kids and local communities, For Kids Only Afterschool was born.

An environment for all children

At FKO, we turn our values into reality every day with every child.

It starts with practicing kindness and a deep respect for others. Our programs foster collaboration to build trust among us by listening, working together, and effectively communicating. By being supportive and compassionate, all perspectives and backgrounds are heard to create a positive place for everyone to learn and grow. In each and every interaction with one other, we start from a place of respect and appreciation of our differences.

These values come together in a holistic approach to learning that centers on creativity, individuality, and imagination.

Each person has what we call a heartprint. Heartprints are like fingerprints, a unique identity and pattern for each of us, except heartprints are more beautiful and expressive. They are the patterns on every heart that makes us who we are and guides our unique feelings, thoughts, and actions. We all have a heartprint that’s unlike any other.

You can’t see your heartprint, but you can feel it and so can others, through the words you say and the things you do.
