Program Information
For Kids Only, in collaboration with the McCarthy School runs a
school-based after-school program for elementary school children
in grades K-5. The program offers a math, science and language
arts curriculum through the use of For Kids Only after school
educators and partnerships with school day teachers. For Kids
Only welcomes the McCarthy School Vice Principal Mr. Andrews in
to our program twice per week to focus on homework help with our
students. The McCarthy School program is known for its strong
partnership with the school making the transition from the
school day to after school effortless.As of September 2009, the
program has doubled in capacity. For Kids Only follows a
structured schedule giving our students a strong sense of
stability. For Kids Only at the McCarthy School allows children
to grow and form strong bonds with both there after school
teachers as well as there peers. For Kids Only allows our
students to learn though play strengthening there academics as
well as there social skills.
Site Coordinator: Jessica Rae
Jess Rae, a graduate from Curry College, has been working in the
field of afterschool since 1999. Jess has a B.A. degree in
early childhood education with a concentration in children,
youth, and community. Her lifelong desire to work with children
is one of Jess’s admirable attributes. Jess’s outgoing
personality helps bring tremendous energy to the Burke
afterschool program. She is a generator of creative ideas and
enjoys introducing new activities to her program every day.
Jess has hopes to further build the Burke program and allow
more children in the town of Peabody to have the experience of
after school programming.
