Program Information
For Kids
Only, in collaboration with the Peabody Public Schools, runs a
school-based after-school program for elementary school children
in grades K-5. The program offers a math and science curriculum
through the use of For Kids Only afterschool educators and
partnerships with school day teachers, the PTA, local colleges,
science centers and other program resources. As
of June 2008, the
program has doubled in capacity since its beginning in October
2005. This program is known for its strong partnership with the
school building principal and afterschool director in developing
curriculum that meets the needs of the student population and
was invited to be on a panel by Northshore Community College
called “Afterschool Promising Practices.”
Site Coordinator: Jessica Rae
Jess Rae, a graduate from Curry College,
has been working in the field of afterschool since 1999. Jess
has a B.A. degree in early childhood education with a
concentration in children, youth, and community. Her lifelong
desire to work with children is one of Jess’s admirable
attributes. Jess’s outgoing personality helps bring tremendous
energy to the Burke afterschool program. She is a generator of
creative ideas and enjoys introducing new activities to her
program every day. Jess has hopes to further build the Burke
program and allow more children in the town of Peabody to have
the experience of after school programming.
